Description: UBER RARE! WW2 P38 BROWN LEATHER SOFTSHELL Holster GXY-1944 = Gebr Klinge, Dresden Item Description: Original Item: Only One Available. WW2 P38 Holster BROWN SOFTSHELL GXY-1944 = Gebrüder Klinge of Dresden-Löbtau, Germany. Late War, factory coded and dated. The holster has seen service- yet is “tight and firm” in all- read on. This is in a very good field worn condition late 1944 WWII production P-38 Brown leather holster for the standard issue Walther P-38 pistol in 9mm. It is nicely maker marked and dated on the back with gxy 1944. This indicates 1944 production by Gebrüder Klinge of Dresden-Löbtau, Germany- one of the few firms that made P-38 Softshell Holsters according to GERMAN MILITARY LETTER CODES 1939-1945 by John Walter. There is no HIGHLY visible Waffenamt inspection stamp- but slight one on the side of spare magazine sleeve- which is a partial for the correct one- WaA 706. It should be noted that when these softshell holsters began to see production in late 1943 (1943 is extremely rare for P-38 softshell- and Brown rarer still)- to replace the more expensive to produce hard-shells- by late 1944 and into 1945 A Great Many Did Not Have the prior clearly defined acceptance markings as seen from 1938-1945 on the Hard Shells. The two primary makers of P-38 soft shell holsters were: 1. “gxy”- Gebr. Klinge, Dresden2. “fkx”- Gustav Sudbrack, Lederwaren-u. Gamaschen-fabrik, Bielefeld, N-W The holster is correctly marked P38 on the upper right rear, and appears to have seen use while in service. There are some light markings and stains on the inside of the holster indicating that it did hold a pistol for a time. The stitching is fully intact and Tight, making this a solid example. The leather is malleable, the clasp stud also tight & firm. More Collector Data: “I too have a P.38 soft shell holster manufactured by Gebr. Klinge, Dresden, manufacturers code "gxy". However, this holster is brown as opposed to dyed black and, if I understand correct, suggests it may have been issued to the Luftwaffe, mine lacks a Waffenamt (WaA) stamp. I suspect these undyed holsters also are somewhat difficult to find as I have not come across another in my rather extensive travels.” This would make a perfect addition to any wartime P-38 Holster collection-a great field used condition original holster.
