Description: Pre-Owned Wenger Timberline Swiss Army knife (Rare) Description The Wenger Timberline Swiss Army knife was a limited production knife that was made in the 1990s. It is a long slim knife with a sliding button on the side that releases the lacked blade. It was very popular due to its length and minimal width which made it very comfortable to carry. This knife also has a Phillips screwdriver and a keyring. This would be an excellent addition to any knife collection. Wenger started in the knife business in 1893. Wenger has marketed their knives as the Genuine Swiss Army knife due to their rivalry with the other company Victorinox who marketed themselves as the Original Swiss Army knife. In 1908 the Swiss Government split their knife contract with 50pct going to Wenger and 50 pct to Victorinox. Victorinox operated in the German speaking canton of Schwyz and Wenger operated from the French speaking canton of Bern. The tightening of security at airports let to a deep drop in knife sales in duty free stores and people stopped carrying knives when traveling.
