Description: Very interesting work by well listed Philadelphia artist Edythe Ferris ( 1897-1995 ). Ferris was a graduate of the Philadelphia School of Design For Women ( now Moore College of Art ) where she received both the Edmund Darch Award for illustration, and the Morris Prize which funded a year of post graduate study. During her career she exhibited at PAFA, the Salon of American Arts, the National Academy of Design and many other prestigious institutions. She had multiple solo exhibitions and a retrospective of her work was held in Philadelphia in 1980. He work on offer measures approximately 43 inches tall and 18 inches wide. It is done on a heavy board principally in shades of blue, white and peach. The piece has an alluring quality and the viewer is drawn in by the subjects dark eyes. The painting is in very good condition with minimal paint chipping in spots on the edge. The pictures do not do justice to the painting. On the reverse on the painting the artist’s name, address, date and information about the piece have been written by Ferris. I had planned on framing this piece but decided to leave that option to a potential buyer. It is a striking and substantial piece that would be fantastic in the right space. It is a large piece and while I do not inflate postage charges , will not be inexpensive to ship. I will send this via the most economical means available and will refund any overage. I would much prefer hand delivery of this item and if buyer lives within a reasonable distance of Philadelphia courtesy delivery may be possible. Please inquire in advance of bidding.
