LABEL SET #C BIG BUM-BIG BEAR- DEVIL DOG-GORILLA-GRENADE BUM-PEONY-PEACOCK-ROCKET-TNT BUM-WARRIORYou’ve seen these firecracker label sets offered elsewhere - and due to my age and current interest level - I’ve decided it’s time to pass mine on to someone younger! The set consists of ten original (not copies) of near-mint firecracker labels dating from the early 1950’s to 1975. Nine of the labels come from the Kwong Yuen Hang Kee Firecracker Factory in Macau/Macao - this manufacturer dating back to at least the 1920’s and sadly, no longer exists! The Peacock is undoubtedly the Po Sing Firecracker Factory’s most well-known brand. Brands (age) included are: Big Bum (1972-1975), Big Bear (1967-1971), Devil Dog (1967-1971), Gorilla (1972-1975), Grenade Bum (1972-1975), Peony (1950-1954), Peacock (1972-1975), Rocket (1972-1975), TNT Bum (1972-1975), and Warrior (1972-1975). Many of these brands were first produced in the 1950’s (or slightly earlier) and remained quite popular in the U.S. until they disappeared due to KYHK’s demise - when mainland China factories such as Horse, Flower Basket, Red Lantern, etc. took over the firecracker export market!All of these labels except the Peacock Brand are old, leftover stock which were never glued to a pack of firecrackers, and they remain in Excellent to Near-Mint condition. The Peacock label was once on a pack and it exhibits the normal ripples/bends expected on such a label. All are from the days when U.S. laws allowed firecrackers to contain two full grains of flash-powder instead of today’s wimpy 50-milligram limit!This set (and a few others) was just recently discovered in an old, over-sized index card box.
