Description: Scottish sword with basket handle - old version Scottish sword with basket handle - old version Although Basket-Hilt swords appeared throughout Britain from the mid-16th century onwards, their association with the 17th and 18th centuries has become legendary. Paul Chen Basket-Hilt Broadsword of Hanwei, replicated from an original in the Royal Armouries collection in England, wears a typical Glasgow-style handle from the mid-18th century. It is likely that the original sword blade, marked «Andrea Ferara», was manufactured in Germany a century earlier and reformed as basket designs were refined. This reproduction of the sword has an aged finish. The handle is made of stainless steel to minimize maintenance and is finished with a museum-quality patina. The blade is forged in high carbon steel and also slightly aged to promote authenticity. It has a genuine striped leather handle wrapped in wire and a leather basket lining covered in fabric. The pod is covered in leather. Manufactured by Hanwei Details: Historically accurate. Lightning skin handle wrapped in wire. Aged finish.
