Description: Two stamps : 1- Hedjaz railway aid ottoman stamp one piaster (qirsh) Colour green overprinted the Hashemite government 2- Ottoman stamp Colour brown( origen postage stamp) 5 paras Overprinted the Hashemite government surcharged to be 20 paras. I believe that these are the first stamps used at the beginning of the Great Arab Revolt for the following reasons: The overprint of the Hashemite government alone is unfamiliar to many stamp collectors and is often seen and known as the Hashemite Kingdom of Hejaz or the Arab Hashemite government or the Arab Hijazi government or hijazi post as on the first printed stamps. However, there is a green stamp one piaster that was sold (Hejaz railway aid), like the stamp shown in the scan on one of the auction websites. It bears this overprint; the Hashemite government ( Al hukumah Al Hashimiyyah) and is registered as (unrecorded). also, there are postal cancellations that bear the name (Hashemite government) alone, as found in stamp guides and Saudi stamp books. And the attached image(which is not included and not for sale in this offer) The currency used to surcharged this stamp is the para, which was an Ottoman currency, while the stamp was used during the Hashemite government, i.e., after the end of Ottoman rule in the Hejaz Thus, it was expected to use qirsh or its fractions, as in Hejazi stamps. However, it is evident that a Turkish coin was stamped with the Hejaz mark on para-denomination coins (as shown in the image according to Saudi coin catalogues). In my opinion, the para was used at the beginning of the Hashemite rule in the Hejaz, in addition to other currencies, which is a separate topic of research from ours. To clarify some historical facts, the Great Arab Revolt began on Sha'ban 10, 1334 (Islamic calendar), corresponding to June 10, 1916. The first formal printed Hejazi stamp issued was in October 1916. Thus, there is a period of approximately four months between the announcement of the Great Arab Revolt and the issuance of the first Hejazi stamps. During this period, financial and postal stamps must have been used, so what were they? It is likely that the Ottoman stamps available at the time were overprinted with the Hashemite government's overprint (as usual in several other countries). It is noteworthy that the brown 20-para stamp bears a cancellation date that I believe falls between the 20th and 29th of Sha'ban 1334, meaning it was used approximately during the three weeks after the announcement of the Arab Revolt. And I think it's unrecorded. Therefore, I believe these are the first stamps used after the announcement of the Great Arab Revolt, during the period between June 10, 1916, and October 1916, the date of the issuance the first formal printed Hejazi stamps.
