Description: George J. Obermeyer George J. Obermeyer, of the National Athletic Club of Brooklyn, is one of the most consistent distance runners in the East. Obermeyer’s best distance is about five miles, but he has also competed successfully at longer distances. On February 28, 1909, Obermeyer won the 12 mile run held at Trenton, N. J., and on May 8, ,1909, ,he won the marathon race held by the Acorn A. A. of Brooklyn at Saratoga Park ,his time being 3 hours 1 minute and 8 seconds. Obermeyer won the Metropolitan A.A.U. Junior three mile championship on July 10, 1909. During the past indoor season Obermeyer has won numerous 5 mile races ,and one of his most notable victories was winning the 10 mile race, ,defeating the Moki Indian, Tewanima, ,of the Carlisle School.
