Description: Pictured are three Cutco Butcher knives. The bottom one is a current model, not for sale, but for comparison to the two that I am offering for sale. The middle one and top one are both for sale, individually or combined set of 2. I was a Cucto Sales manager in the mid-1980's. Cutco is hand-made cutlery from Olean, NY USA and is simply, the best. I still have my original demo set from my college days, and has been used in my kitchen daily, for 36 years, without even a factory resharpen or replacement. Throughout the years of in-home demos, I acquired a couple older, unique & antique Cutco Butcher Knives from the 1950s, by trading with customers that had knives older than mine. Unlike the poly thermo-resin handles produced since the late 50's, the two for sale are both made of rosewood. One has the universal Lamb-wedgelock handle that was invented in 1952 (and let me tell you how Thomas Lamb studied over 700 pairs of hands to develop this ergonomic, no-slip, handle that fits comfortably in any sized hand, left or right...). The other butcher knife pre-dates the Lamb-Wedgelock so would be from 1949-1951 (Cutco was founded in 1949). These are both in good-excellent condition. I have been storing them since the late 80s. The handles are near-perfect. No scratches, blemishes, etc. The tangs are flush to the rosewood and nickel-silver rivets. No warping, no wiggle, no wabble -- just perfectly set like the day they were made. The blades are not as perfect. No chips, bends, burrs, or gouges; but the original owners had used sharpening stones that left some scratches in the otherwise mirror-perfect chromium alloy blades. These are definitely something for a Cutco collector/aficionado, not for casual kitchen use. If you or someone you know is as passionate about Cutco as I am, it would make a remarkable gift. Downsizing some things that I hope will be appreciated and benefit next generations. Asking, firm, $350 for both together. This bid is for both knives. Email/DM me if you are only interested in one or the other and will consider after this bid closes.
