A. Lange & Söhne B-uhr WW2 German Luftwaffe Flieger/Pilots Watch

Description: A 1940’s WWII A. Lange und Söhne Beobachtungs-Uhren (B Uhr) Pilots watch with Type A dial. Dating from a dark period in history, these observation watches were commissioned and produced for the German Luftwaffe during World War 2 my numerous manufactures and in 2 dial variants. The Type B variant was made for navigators with the Type A dial (as seen here) made for pilots. These Flieger watches, as they are known, were the property of the German government at that time and were issued to air crew before missions. The watch is significant in size, with a case diameter of 55mm, designed to be worn over a flight suit. The dial is equally large with heat blued hands containing significant amounts of lume for clear legibility in-flight. The reliable hand wound Calibre 48 movement continues to run smoothly and keep good time. This a rare opportunity to own a true piece of history which remains in great condition as can be seen in the images. Along with the watch is a German made Flieger watch strap, secured to the fixed lug bars via screw down rivets, allowing the strap to be more easily removed as desired. The watch also comes with an archival extract from the Glashütte museum, providing further provenance to this time piece. Any import duties or fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
