Description: .i ship within one business day read all this information to find out how to get free manure, free wood chips, free compost, free wood ash and even free seeds for the garden.Cymbopogon citratus, commonly known as West Indian lemon grass or simply lemon grass, is a tropical plant native to the maritime of southeast Asia.Great for:Lemongrass teastir fry dishes and flavoring thingsCan bring a nice lemony scent to your gardenrepels mosquitoes rats, mice and other insectsThe tops of the lemongrass are trimmed down for shipping but grow very rapidlyHow to plant when transplanting.dig the hole a little bigger than the plant. If you have some compost or better quality soil then add it to the hole. If no better soil is around then don't worry about it. this is very easy to grow.Fill the hole with water and then let it drain out.Now put the lemongrass plant in the hole and back fill it to just cover the root area and maybe a little bit more.Water a second time and the planting is done. Now water them the next day and then every other day for about a week or two and then forget it.How to get free things for you garden. For free composted material call your local recycle center. Here in Florida, our county shredded up all the trees, leaves and compo stable material fromhurricane Irma. the stuff is wonderful and does more for the plants than the horse manure i use. I find screening it first gives me a better productI like to do things organically and without spending a lot of money.Free ashes that provide potassium, phosphorus and trace minerals.I have a local barbecue place that is wonderful and they have natural wood charcoalthat is formed into briquettes that they use. It is 100 natural and they give me the ashes for free. Ashes have the phosphorus and potassium and the horse manure hasthe nitrogen so those are the three main ingredients in your bagged fertilizer that you paid money for and i got it and you should get it for free too.The bagged fertilizer you use such as 10-10-10 is a by product from drilling for oil. I don't want that on my plants. In populations were people live to over 100, one of the common factors is they put their wood stove ash into their garden. It is also full of trace minerals that are healthy for you. To find free ash just call your local barbecue places or anyplace that has a wood fired pizza oven or just keeps a fire going for the atmosphere. Some say no to giving them to you but you only need one to say yes. Do not plan to put the ashes in a plastic bag or plastic container. Bring a metal trash can with a cover. I fill mine each time so i make fewer trips but it is heavy so bring someone to help you load it into the car. sometimes the ashes are very light and depends on if they got wet or not. But be prepared for them to be heavy.Free wood chipsAlso when someone that does tree work in your area has to dump their wood chips at the transfer station or dump, they have to pay a fee. If you have a large yard you could havethem dump a load in your yard when they are working in the area. if you tell them you want it on a certain time frame then they will be making a special trip for you and charge you.If you tell them instead, when you are in the area and want to save a tipping fee then they can leave a load at your home. Be polite and mark the location for them so they can dump them when you are home or away. these wood chips work well to keep down weeds, Over time they will improve the soil but in the short term they will not help your soil nutrition. I seem to see most gardeners end up growing too much of something. You could thank the wood chip guy or the ash people or horse people with what you grew too much of.Free manureHorses produce 50 pounds of manure, hay and wood shavings per day. My local riding stable has about 30 horses so they have to move out 1500 pounds of manure per day. They are glad to have you take it. Look up riding stables in your area or places to board your horse or any farm that raises animals. Likely they will be glad to let you take their manure. Older manure is best. The horse stable i go to has their horses graze on land that has a lot of sand and short grass so when the manure degrades i end up with a lot of sand. I will be looking for a better quality manure. Not all manure is equal so do some comparing. Also do not look at the wood shavings as having no value in the garden. they are used to soak up the urine and the urine from the horse is very high in nitrogen so use it don't avoid it.Free seedsHere in my area there is a seed library at the Dunedin library. Many libraries have seed libraries within them. Call your local library and ask them if they have a seed library within that library or what library has a seed library in your area.I thought about only giving this information to the people that buy from me but i would rather help more people so i am putting thishere for everyone but i also hope you purchase some of my lemongrass plants.Be kind to others and share this information with other gardeners so they can grow inexpensively and organically at the same time. My hope is i will save you more money with this information than what i am charging for the lemongrass plants.
