3-(Citrofortunella micro) Seedlings Rare Orange-Lime-Lemon Calamansi Fruit Tree

Description: 3 CITROFORTUNELLA MICROCARPA SEEDLINGS A Rare Citrus Hybrid, with a Little Squeeze of Fresh Calamansi has a Sour and Slightly Sweet Taste, Making it a Very Unique Member of the Citrus Fruits Family. It's Distinct Flavor is More Intense than that of it's Relatives, the Mandarin Orange and other Citrus Fruits. Not only is a calamondin tree useful, it is attractive as well. Mature height ranges between 12 and 14 feet, with a spread of 8 to 10 feet. Leaves are a dark, glossy green, with white flowers and bright orange fruit. Originally native to Southeast Asia, the calamondin is a natural cross between the mandarin orange and the kumquat. Trees are self-fertile, so you only need one tree to have fruit. The fruit peel is dark green in tropical lowland areas, becoming pale green or green-yellow when ripe, resembling a lime (Citrus aurantiifolia). However, the peel develops a bright orange color in cooler warm-temperate, subtropical and tropical highland areas. New plants can be raised from seed or using vegetative propagation methods. Performs best on well-manured, free-draining loam and sand soils of a moderately acid to neutral nature, generally with a pH of 5.5 to 7.0, and on sites with full to partial sun exposure. It has poor tolerance to slow-draining or permanently wet soils. ZONES 8a-10bCITROFORTUNELLA MICROCARPA PLANTING:"Longer seedlings will be protected in short straws. Be sure to pull them down out of the straws from the bottom roots to prevent damage"1. Choosing a Pot: Select a pot with good drainage holes, like these planters. The size of the pot should accommodate the tree's root system as it grows. For the primo sized calamondin trees, a pot with a diameter of at least 10-14" inches is recommended. Planting in the ground: For in-ground planting, plant the tree in a prepared area about 3x the diameter of the pot, and as deep as possible. That soil should be well-draining and loose, allowing for root growth. Plant your tree at the same depth as the pot, keeping the crown of the roots just above the soil line. Water thoroughly after planting. 2. Soil: Use a well-draining chunky potting mix specifically formulated for citrus trees, being sure it's well draining. 3. Location: Place the potted tree in a location that receives at least 8 hours of sunlight. Citrus trees, including calamondin trees, require plenty of sunlight to thrive. 4. Watering: Water the tree regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Use your finger to check the top inch of soil; if it feels dry, it's time to water. During the growing season (spring and summer), you may need to water more frequently. Reduce watering in the colder months.
