Description: This is an amazing beautiful jug with hand painted colorful flowers, there is a hole through the neck, a very interesting design . It is in great age related condition with one minor small chip flake on underside side of foot rim and some minor characteristic underglaze pottery crazing, wear to gold. No other issues. Maker: Ignace Fischer Origin: Pest, Hungary Overall height is about 9” tall * 8” wide * 6 1/2” deep Ignace Fischer founded his company in Pest, Hungary, in 1864. (Pest is the eastern half of modern Budapest. It united with the western half (Buda and Obuda) to become one city in 1873. Hungarian surnames are listed first in company names, and the initials “J” and “I” are the same letter. Ignác Fischer acquired his knowledge of arts and crafts in Hungary at his father's manufacture of ceramics in Tata-Tóváros. He then further refined and developed his knowledge of ceramics at the Herend factory, also in Hungary. Similar to Zsolnay, Fischer also specialized in the production of ornamentally decorated ceramics. He was successful mainly with his Majolica ware, sold in Austria-Hungary and also sold for export.
