Description: 1952 Stephens College Yearbook, Stephensophia, Columbia Missouri. Stephens College is the second oldest women's educational establishment that is still a women's college. It was founded on August 24, 1833 as the Columbia Femal Academy. Photos # 1, 2 and 3 shows the front cover, back cover and binding. Photo # 4 shows the Title Page. Photos 5 and 6 show the Table of Contents. Photo # 7 shows the Junior Picture of Karin Cederwall, who was the previous owner of this yearbook. Karen is in the 2nd row down from the top, 2nd in from the right. Karin was from Spokane, Washington and lived at N1325 Park Boulevard and was the daughter of Mrs. H. E. Anderson. Photo # 8 shows Karin Cederwall, again as a resident of the Tower Hall Dormitory. Karin is in the 3rd photo down from the top and is on the right hand side. Photo # 9 shows the Favorite Slogan for Karin Cederwall, from Stephens College Junior, Ellie, who was Karin's roommate in the second semester. The Slogan Is: My Slogan for Kain, "On the Wall with Cederwall". Photo # 10 shows the Tower Hall Dormitory at Stephens. Photos 11 and 12 show The Stephens Travel with a photo of Suzie's on the Cuban Tour, at El Moro Castle, which is a fortress guarding the entrance to the Havana Harbor. The design of the Castle was done by the Italian Engineer, Battista Antonelli. Also shown are students in Paris at the Arc de Triomphe built to commemorate the success of the French at the Battle of the Three Emperors, Napoleon's greatest military success, located at the northern end of Avenue des Champes-Elysees. The Battle of the Three Emperors was one of the most important miliary engagements of the Napoleonic Wars. The battle occurred near the town of Austerlitz in the Austrian Empire. The battle is often cited by military historians as one of Napoleon's tactical masterpieces. Also shown is the Eastern Tour in New York City. A native Cuban shows the Suzie's how to climb a tree. The Stephens Girls visit Georgia Tech University on the Cuban Tour. Photo # 13 shows outstanding Seniors: Polly F. Franklin, who would later marry and become Mrs. Polly F. Williams and earn a PhD and become a Professor at Stanford University. Jo Ann Hokley, Best Private Citizen. Photo # 14 shows: Ann Parrish Garretson and Beverly Ann Sparks. Photo # 15 shows Nancy Burden and Jean F. Astrup. Photo # 16 shows Geraldine Meredith Norris and Catherine Joan Campbell. Photo # 17 shows Nancy Oalane Horne and Carol Soenksen. Photo # 18 shows Martha A. Shelton, who would later marry and become Mrs. Martha A. Love and move to Jordan Road, New Hartford, New York and Shirley Reynolds. Shelf # 41.
