Fort Benning, Georgia. The 18th, 16th and 66th Infantry regiments, of the First Division - all from the New York Metropolitan area - are among the army units engage in maneuvers at Ft. Benning, Georgia, as part of the greatest peacetime concentration of regular United States Army forces in history. Other units are maneuvering in the South and West, in the plan to put all mobile combat forces of regular troops in the field for intensive training over a period of months. As a result of the Army's being streamlined, military authorities realized the need for training of this type. These New York troops have been at Ft. Benning for months, and in that time they have created a New York City atmosphere all of their own.
